Guitar and piano share the same 12 notes — but they look completely different on each instrument. This tool trains you to instantly connect the two: see a note on one, find it on the other.
Over time, you build a mental bridge between fretboard positions and piano keys — useful for songwriting, ear training, music theory, and communication with other musicians.
Cycle through modes with the 🔀 button in the top-right corner:
| 🎸→🎹 | Guitar → Piano — a note appears on the fretboard, you find it on the piano keys. |
| 🎹→🎸 | Piano → Guitar — a key highlights on the piano, you find it on the fretboard. |
| 🔀 | Mixed — alternates direction every 3 challenges. Best for all-round practice. |
Below the fretboard, use the String and Fret filters to narrow down what the game asks you:
| 🎸 | String filter — click individual strings (e, B, G, D, A, E) to practice only those. Click All to reset. Multi-select: click several strings to combine them. |
| 🔢 | Fret range — choose 0–5 (beginner), 0–9 (intermediate), or 0–12 (full first octave). The game only picks positions within your chosen range. |
Recommended progression:
| 🏠 | home — back to the main page |
| ↺ | Reset — clears score & streak, starts fresh |
| 🎨 | Help overlay — shows all note names on both instruments with color-coded dots. Great for learning or quick reference. Click again to hide. |
| ▶ | New challenge — skip or start a new round |
| 🔊 | Replay — hear the current note again |
| 🌙 | Dark / Light mode toggle |
| ✓ | Correct — total right answers this session |
| ✗ | Wrong — total wrong clicks |
| 🔥 | Streak — consecutive correct answers. Resets to 0 on a wrong click. Challenge yourself to beat your best streak! |
Got a USB/MIDI keyboard? Just plug it in — the tool auto-detects it. Play a note on your physical keyboard instead of clicking. Works for both piano and guitar answers (note-matching).
